Google Docs allows you to create, upload, and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms. Google Docs allows you the opportunity to view and edit a file that others are viewing and editing at the same time. There are many ways that Google Docs can be used for education.

Here is a video from Common Craft about Google Docs:

1. To get started, click here to download a tutorial on Google Docs - Introduction to Google Documents.pdf. A file will download to your computer. Open it to begin exploring.

2. Explore Google Docs. Try doing some of the following:

  • Upload a document/spreadsheet/presentation from your computer
  • Create a new document/spreadsheet/presentation/form
  • Share a document/spreadsheet/presentation/form with others

3. Click on the page Workshop Activities to go to a Google Document for this session. Begin adding to and editing this document. Notice what happens as more users begin using this spreadsheet. Feel free to add more columns, format your text, or do anything else to add to the document. Please be aware that any changes you make will be made to everyone's document, so make sure that you do not make any changes that will cause others to have problems inputting their information.
